Inspiring Wabi Sabi Ceramics

Finally! Tonight I'll be back in the ceramic studio. I am not doing raku this time, but will try more traditional techniques. For inspiration, I had a look at some of Cheryl Wolff's ceramics. I just love the simple elegance of her work.

Love her bird feeders and bird houses:

Cheryl Wolff lives and work in Northern California, and you'll find more her work over at her Etsy shop here.

Wabi Sabi Still Life

Photographer Gemma Comas' client list is quite impressive. No wonder, when she takes these kind of stills. Beautiful, simple and very Wabi Sabi. Enjoy.

Bedroom browns and greys. Neutrala toner i sovrummet.

I came across this photograph in Gemma Comas' portfolio, and liked the simplicity and calmness of the room.

There is nothing dramatical or especially trendy about this bedroom. Just the basic necessities: a comfy bed, a table, a lamp. And that's what makes it so attractive in my eyes. Plus the natural coloring: the browns, the greys, the black.
Too boring for you? If you added a color - what would it be, then?

Läs hela artikeln i Sköna Hem här.

Ha en skön sensommarhelg. Själv skall jag stapla ved. Inte särskilt sexigt, men nödvändigt, om man vill ha välluftad och torr ved till vinterns myskvällar framför brasan.

Hemma hos: A Gardner's Paradise (part 2)

Two giant dogs guard the wooden gate to The Gardner's Paradise. A beautiful place I visited the other day. A rainy day. And fell in love with the place.
I took some pictures with my cell phone camera, to share with you. Sorry about the quality. I used only the natural light and no styling. Every thing is just as I found it. Any attempt to style this home and garden would have robbed it of it's uniqueness and character. First, some glimpses from inside the  house:
Below: the big kitchen is the heart of the house. Where the Gardner cook and his guest's eat, drink, dance (see earlier post below) and generally have a good time.

One room was full of antique furniture. And several beautiful arrangements of memorabilia here and there:

The hallway:

From the hall, lets visit the garden.
Love the way the garden is divided into small spaces.
A surprise awaits at every corner, behind every hedge or bush.

... don't forget to look down...

Have a seat

And everywhere - old and new garden tools ready to use.
Let's get back to work, then?

Wooden walls gone wrong? Bottennapp - eller urläcker trend??

Found these pics over at Swedish Elle's website. I usually love everything they do, but here I'm lost! To be frank - I was really turned off by these walls. What do you think? Would you dress your living room or bedroom walls like this, with new, untreated boards? Am I over reacting? Love to hear what you think.

Foto: Per Ranung.

New Bamboo Chairs from Tine K Home

I cannot resist posting this pic from Tine K Home
My house is full to the brim, so I usually do not fall for new things.... but these bamboo chairs are just perfect! Love the eco-friendly material and the simple design of repeated squares. Something for your outdoor spaces perhaps?

Hemma hos: A Garner's Paradise (part 1)

The other (rainy) day, I visited a re-known Swedish garden designer at his combined studio-home. I did expect to be quite taken by the outdoor spaces...
... but I did not expect to fall in love with the interior spaces too! I got carried away and took loads of pics with my mobile phone camera (hence the quality). I used only the natural light and no styling. Every thing is just as I found it. Any attempt to style this home and garden would have robbed it of it's uniqueness and character.
We were quite happy and pleased with the visit (as seen below ;-).  More pics from this inspiring home-studio coming up tomorrow.
