Redesigning an old barn. Gammal skånelänga blir som ny i orange och turkost!

There once was an old barn in the south of Sweden. Then LASC Studio got hold of it, and converted it to a summer retreat with lots of natural materials. And some stunning color accents! Wow!

Vad sägs om denna gamla skånelänga som LASC Studio har renoverat och byggt om till ett bekvämt sommarboende på Österlen. Spännande blandning av omålade träytor, vitt, orange och turkost i interiören. Skulle du våga?

An old barn comes to life

Yes, it's quite obvious, isn't it? I am trying to catch up, after a few busy weeks, with yet another update: Would you believe this is the interior of an old barn?

Ruinelli Associati Architetti have redeveloped by an old, abandoned barn in Soglio, Switzerland, using much of the original features and materials such as stone and wood.

All that beautiful wood! The building sits on a slope
and is now a three story building of 110 mq on each floor.

On the top floor is the master bedroom + en suite bath and a loggia, with a stunning view of the historic village. Love the new materials: smooth concrete, raw solid oak and welded steel. Yes please, I would move in any day. Wouldn't you?

Stunning home and office in Brazil

This use to be the home of the late Brazilian artist Victor Brecheret. The house was built in the 1940s in São Paulo, and is rather compact in size (130 m²). It's now the home and office of the architect Guilherme Torres, who has made some minor changes and additions to the building.

The floor plan is the same, but all walls have been covered with new drywalls and received in some parts white paint and in others, a coating that resembles cement texture. The master suite’s toilet is connected to a mezzanine above the kitchen where a bath tub was created. A retractable glass roof can be opened on summer days, to help leaving a mild climate. To soften the rays of sun, a wooden muxarabie, a registered trademark of the architect, was used as a covering following the same pattern of the front door of the house. Natural Colors and some Clever Room Dividers

Today I stepped by Norwegian design studio X-poDesign. There are always lots of eye-candy for those of us who love the natural, relaxed style. All images here are from interior designer Gro Sævik's online portfolio.

Gro Sævik often uses transparent linen curtains to divide spaces. Both indoors and out, as seen in these pics. A simple and clever way to create intimacy in open spaces.

Swedish living in Black and White

Welcome to glass designer Ingegerd Råhman's monochrome home in the south of Sweden. The house may be from the 1920s, but the interior is very modern, in black and white. My favorite space is the upstairs bedroom. What's yours?

My Ceramics and a Moon

Today I spent some time taking pictures of a few of my ceramic bowls in the garden.
At one point I got a little carried away
and placed the bowls among the wide, rhubarb leaves.
Made the bowls look like flowers, don't you think?

Finally, tonight, I couldn't resist the rising moon. Mesmerizing..

Our place in time

This nearly five-minute video really makes you think of how small we are in universe... and what we do with the time we are here. California based photographer and musician Shawn Reeder, spent two years working on this time lapse video of Yosemite National Park. More at the Huffington Post site.
