I've seen this nineteenth century London house with its new addition on a few websites lately, and I'm intrigued. What do YOU think? Is it OK to add a modern extension like these volumes, to a classic Victorian semi-detached villa?
The private owner of this Victorian brick house needed more space for his photo and design work, and Alison Brooks Architects did the jobb, adding spaces in their geometric, signature style.
The extension is designed as a series of large openings, connected by large trapezoidal planes. These openings bring in the daylight,draw the garden into the house, and frame precise views of the spectacular walnut tree outside. Indeed an interesting mix of old and new!
