Milan 2013: geometry in the air

Who says a pendant must hang straight from the ceiling?

I always tell my student to think twice about how they treat the "air space" in a room. When I saw these solutions, I just went: yes!!! I just love the way London based designer Michael Anastassiades String Lights for Flos were presented at last week's Milan Furniture Fair.

The lamps are hung with thin black electrical cords that draw bold geometric shapes in the air. Minimal and poetic, much like telegraph wires as seen from a train window. What a clever way to connects walls, ceiling and light. Creative! Inspiring! Soon to be copied everywhere.
