Artist and interior designer Monique Meij-Beekman found an old bakery and turned it into a home and studio/shop. The choice of dark and chalky grey walls plus the distressed wood, granite and stone, gives the rooms an austere and mysterious feel. Almost like a monastery.
You may have seen some of these pics from Monique Meij-Beekman's home before, since they were published in Elle Decoration 2009. But I think they deserve another go. Styled by Monique herself, and photographed by Jan Luijk. All pics from their websites.

wonderful honey!!!
ReplyDeleteUnderbara bilder- med så mycket känsla! Kram Johanna
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I would never chose the gray wall color myself, but there is something quite soothing about it, like living in a home made of driftwood.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies.
ReplyDeleteValerianna, I would not paint my walls dark either. Living in Sweden means you want all the daylight you can get, so I go all white on my walls. But it's inspiring to see other solutions. Makes me think about new ways of creating great spaces.
Fantastic texture and coherence throughout provides a nice contrast to the minimal clutter in the space.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. These photos hit me so hard I can't imagine what the house would feel like.
