Great rugs for your floor. Mattor som rena konstverk!

Ahhh, this is one of those occations when I wish I was a rich girl! Don't you just love these rugs from Nanimarquina? Hand knotted of natural wool, silk and mohair. Beautifully photographed in Spain.

This awesome rug collection is called Chillida, decorated with a selection of Spanish artist Eduardo Chillida's work (1924-2002). All images from Nanimarquina.

Fler bilder: Nanimarquina

Cozy Sunday

OK - it's now official: it's June. It's summer in Sweden. Or so they say.  But temperatures are low and it's raining cats and dogs outside my window, so I keep a fire going , keeping warm and cozy.

The whole thing is really very clever: first you get hot from cutting down the tree. Then you stay warm while chopping it. And now my cheeks are glowing from the burning fire. Mmmmmmm.

Don't have a fireplace? Here are some "fiery" inspiration, if you're planning to build one at your home.
Any summer where you are?

Bye bye Winter

When I work from home, this is what I see on my walk to the mail box. I always have my phone ready to take a picture of the ever changing winter skies. But this is history now - Spring is already here, and I'm working hard around the house to cut down trees, prune bushes and tend to flowers and other plants. This is the best part of the year.

The Year of the Dragon

This weekend the Chinese celebrate their New Year.
2012 is the year of the Dragon. The Dragon is all about drama - of excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and intensity! Like japanese artist Satoshi Kamiya's origami paper dragons (and a dinosaur), which I found on his website here. Happy New Year!
If you are into Feng shui, this is what goes:
The feng shui dragon is a powerful and auspicious traditional cure and an excellent symbol of strong yang / male energy. A pearl, or a crystal, in the dragon's claw symbolizes wealth, power and an abundance of opportunities. Ideally, you will place your feng shui dragon close to an open space, or in an open space, facing towards the house (to bring in the energy of wealth) but not feel cramped/restricted by facing a close wall, careful not to have the pearl in the dragon's claw facing toward the window or the door.

Native American-inspired aesthetic for 2011

I have put a hold on clothes shopping, but these beauties from the Portland Collection makes me think again.

I just love the way the designers have implemented a Native American-inspired aesthetic into these textiles, all produced locally in Portland, USA.
Here is a link to a youtube film, where we can see how the designers created their fall/winter 2011collection.

I want to have it all!!!

Trendspotting: Elle goes Green

Swedish Elle Interiör is my favorite (Swedish) interior mag. Love the international outlook. The other day the September issue landed in my mailbox. Jumped at the cover: that moss colored sofa. All those pics of greenery. Inspiring and looking great! The article inside wasn't half bad either. Just love these pics by Swedish photograpeher Idha Lindhag, which I borrowed from her site.

Above: Love the two Morris wallpapers in this pic. Can we look forward to a William Morris revival in Sweden now? (When I ask my interior design students if they know of Williams Morris and his work, they all shake their heads... Maybe no more? ;-))

Amish barn living

While reading the New York Times  today, I found this great article of a couple who eleven years ago bought a farm only 15 minuts from downtown Pittsburgh, USA, and turned it into a relaxing place for their family and friends. The place is full of beautiful spaces and spectacular views. Read the full article here.
